Taking Toledo

We took a day trip to Toledo this weekend and it was so great! Our school has excursions and lots of activities so we decided to partake in this excursion. I have been to Toledo before, many moons ago in 8th grade with my Spanish class, but I actually didn't remember much...probably because I was really sick. I wasn't this time though, just excited to see another part of Spain!

We had to take the metro from our apartment to meet the people from our school at the Plaza Eliptica bus station.
Had to get a teeny tiny coffee from "Dunkin Coffee" before our bus ride!
We made it!

Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo!
This is a Roman Catholic Cathedral and is one of the three 13th-century High Gothic Cathedrals in Spain. It was begun in 1226 under the rule of Ferdinand III and was finished in 1493.

Such different name options!

Standing at the city gate entrance to Toledo, El Puerte de Bisagra Nueva.

 Walking the cobblestone streets!

Toledo is randomly known for Marzipan! We had to try some!

Toledo four!

Hangin with Cervantes!

Church of San Román! This church is a 13th-century mudejár church. It has a huge mixture of Christian and Moorish elements with an amazing tower with views of the city! Almost all of the walls are covered in Romanesque murals and they have a huge collection of Visiogothic artifacts.

A sweet panorama of the inside of the church!

We stood on tombs...of dead people!
Views from the tower!
Pretty murals!

Our album cover.

loving the tower!
This is an actual door lock! So cool, right??
The amazing thing about Toledo is it has an interesting blend of Christian, Muslim and Jewish cultures.
Awesome door knocker!
This reminded me of my Mom, thought she'd appreciate it!
sneak peak of the church from between the winding streets!

I left my heart in Toledo? I was last here in 2003...ish? So it's been around 12 years! Crazy that I'm back experiencing it again!

One last pano of the city!!

Such a great day trip! So great to get out of the city for a second and see a "real" European city, if you know what I mean. On a separate note, we found an apartment! I was starting to get a little nervous about finding one, but we got one in the Argüelles district for 1,400 Euro! 5 bedrooms, 2 bath, 280 Euro each! So happy.

"It's a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you're ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any." -Hugh Laurie
